Networking, relationship building and serious business sessions were capped off this year in Auckland in Hawaiian style!

The 2015 BuildLink Conference took place over 30 April to 1 May, attracting some 400 attendees to the Crowne Plaza in Auckland.

The event kicked off with an extensive Trade Show involving 56 suppliers from across the country coming together to showcase their products and services to the BuildLink membership – a rare opportunity for suppliers to get in front of all members and their senior staff without distraction of day to day business.

With a number of new members to the group, the first day also provided ample time for everyone to get together and network in a relaxed and open environment. Feedback from the day was very positive with both suppliers and members taking plenty away and forging new business relationships as well as building on existing ones.

Day two started off with the in-house aspects of conference, along with a training session from IBS, presentations from Smart Trade and discussion around the BuildLink Sheds & Buildings initiative and the fantastic growth the group has undergone in this area.

The 2015 conference theme was “Building the Brand” with a focus on new marketing initiatives which were introduced to the group and strategies outlined for future progression.

This year’s guest speaker was the ever engaging Mike Hutcheson, columnist, entrepreneur and marketing guru. With extensive business experience, including having run a family building company and setting up Replica Homes, Mike delivered more than a few thought-provoking insights on marketing and adopting a fresh approach to thinking about the way members do business.

The 2015 BuildLink Conference concluded in style on Friday night with a Hawaiian theme in anticipation for the Members Incentive Trip to Hawaii that’s on the cards for November later this year.

The awards ceremony was sponsored by Winstone Wallboards and Valspar and celebrated the year’s best performing BuildLink members and suppliers. The MC for the night was one of New Zealand’s most loved comediennes, South African born Urzila Carlson.
