Proof of concept in mid-rise timber

The Ministry of Primary Industries has announced a partnership with Red Stag to develop and showcase the use of engineered (glu-lam and CLT) timber in a high-performance, mid-rise Christchurch boutique project.

The Clearwater Quays Apartments, developed as part of the Red Stag group, will be built by NaylorLove, with completion expected in the summer of 2019-20.

Christchurch “all-rounder” takes out Apprentice of the Year

Christchurch apprentice and “outstanding all-rounder” Peter Ravn took out the title of Registered Master Builders CARTERS 2018 Apprentice of the Year at this year’s national competition.

Peter went head to head with nine other national finalists, in a testing six-hour practical challenge to build a complex garden station and is employed by Armitage Williams Construction.

Second place went to Corbin Mills from New Plymouth, who works for B D Hill Building, while third place was awarded to Kyle Tonks from Porirua, who is employed by Tonks Residential Construction.

All three trained through BCITO.

Registered Master Builders Apprentice of the Year is made possible thanks to principal sponsor CARTERS, BCITO and supporting sponsor MBIE.
