PlaceMakers recently opened its new, from-scratch Kapiti site and a new purpose-built store in Alexandra.

After nearly 30 years at its original site, PlaceMakers Kapiti opened the doors to a brand new purpose-built store (photo above) with a more efficient layout and safer, cleaner environment for customers and staff.

“We are extremely proud to be able to bring this new development to Kapiti,” says Greg Kusabs, Kapiti Branch Operator.

Located within minutes of the existing store, just off Lodestar Road, the new store will operate six days a week, including full weekend trading.

PlaceMakers Kapiti features a new drive-through layout, as well as brand new kitchen, bathroom and heating displays.

Purpose-built in Central Otago

Since 29 May PlaceMakers Alexandra also now boasts a new purpose-built store in the Boundary Road area, run by Brent Stanley, who has been the JV Operator for PlaceMakers Alexandra since 2011.

Another co-location with Mico Bathrooms, it replaces the historic store where Fletcher Merchants and more recently PlaceMakers has traded since 1973.

Located in the Alexandra Business Park, the new store will operate six days a week, including full Saturday trading.

The new store (see artist's impression - photos to follow!) is three times the size of the current store and carries the PlaceMakers large store extended range (Core and Core Plus), with around 15,600 products including a full range of fastenings, power tools and power tool accessories.

The new site also includes a new 850m² showroom area, trade products, power tools, hand tools, paint, décor solutions, heating and kitchens from PlaceMakers, along with all the latest bathrooms from Mico.

“We have significantly more space, a separate unload area for trucks and 38 dedicated carparks enabling ‘easy-in, easy-out’ plus significantly improved levels of safety for customers and employees,” says Brent Stanley.

Negotiations are also underway to also provide a facility in the car park which would offer customers barista coffee, muffins, rolls, Jimmies pies and other "on the move" food to keep customers fueled.
