BNZ Marketview consumer spending for the week ending 13 March has hardware spending well ahead of the market, yet again.

Retail spending using BNZ credit and debit cards for the week ending 13 March was +3.89% on the same week last year, slightly down on recent levels (+5.53% over the last 30 days and +4.56% over the last 52 weeks).

Having said this, more than half of the 18 store types measured saw a rise in spending this week.

The store types with the largest rises in spending this week were:

  • Hardware & homeware +14.9%.
  • Sports & camping equipment +13.8%.
  • Appliances +7.9%.
