Two news items of interest to anyone looking at insulating rental properties.

PinkFit’s free rental insulation service

Tasman Insulation’s nationwide installer service PinkFit is offering free quotes and assessments for customers looking to insulate their rental property.

The Residential Tenancies Act amendment requires all rental properties to have minimum levels of underfloor and ceiling insulation by 1 July 2019.

To meet these requirements, new Pink Batts Retrofit ceiling insulation (R2.9 and R3.3), has been designed to make choosing the right product as simple and easy as possible for retailers, merchants and their customers.

Plus, now, when you have a customer asking about insulation for a rental property, you can pass them on to PinkFit (0800 746 534), who can produce a quote for your customer on your behalf and at no cost.

New insulation installation standard

The newly revised standard NZS 4246:2016 Energy efficiency – Installing bulk thermal insulation in residential buildings has just been published.

NZS 4246 provides guidance for the correct installation of quality insulation products by installers and consumers.

Revisions include additional guidelines on installing insulation in steel-framed constructions and for concrete slabs and also a complete re-write of the health & safety appendix.

Usefully, given the range of parties interested in this standard has broadened recently with the changes to the Residential Tenancies Act, Government is funding access to the revised standard which is available on this website:
